"This one is actually my first foray into the world of pastel painting. I am reasonably happy with the outcome. What do you think?"
"This painting was going tragically wrong and I found myself struggling with my original concept and colours and very nearly binned it. Answer - Completely change the colour scheme and have a bit of fun with it! These little victories are most definitely the sweetest.
"There is nothing quite as inviting as a pub at the end of the road when you have been out walking in the peaks all day...especially when it has been raining."
"I spent a lot of time portraying the pebbles on the beach in this scene and I am pleased to say that it worked quite convincingly. Its just a pity that this doesn't come across in the photograph very well. You will have to come and see this one in the flesh!"
"The last time I visited York it was a beautifully sunny day which had the effect of deepening the shadows making them even more mysterious and putting everything else into stark contrast. This is the Shambles in York a wonderful subject to paint."
"I wanted to portray that subtle haze you get at the end of a hot summers afternoon. Not that we get that many of them in this country. It's nice to dream though."
"Another painting about light with some strong contrasts between the very dark foreground and the bright sunlight in the background. I was also very pleased with the way the reflections and the little streams of water going down the lane worked."
